Beauty of All Men Photographs 1976-2011, The by Stanley Stellar
This pictorial volume with its two texts and an interview is the first carefully compiled monograph on the New York photographer Stanley Stellar, developed together with the artist. It may be due to Stanley Stellar's undemonstrative manner (which is, however, also the source of his gift for getting people to open up to him) and his rejection of fashion and glamour where models are staged in directorial mood according to a single aesthetic norm, that only now the first selection of photographs from the past 35 years is being presented, with the meaningful title "The beauty of all men." It may be of interest to readers that the original title, "The beauty of men," was changed to "The beauty of all men." In this way Stanley emphasizes that he wants to perceive the person in front of him not only as an aesthetic object, but rather as a whole person. Matters of sensual-sexual individuality, erotic fantasy and awareness of self are manifested in sessions with Stanley.
