As We Are
As We Are by Don Clark
The gay community is in crisis and a new sense of our identity is emerging. We are finding our real goodness as we love and care for one another.
With these words Don Clark begins this look at our emerging gay identity. Clark, a clinical psychologist, has specialized in helping gay men, lesbians and those who love them. He believes that in coping with the AIDS epidemic the guy community has passed an important mile-stone. "Just as police had expected us to run from them and from one another when they raided the Stonewall in June of 1969, the world expected us to flee from one another in the face of this deadly epidemic. But we did not." Clark creates a clear picture of where we have been, where we are going, and emphasizes the vital importance of the being As We Are.
