Gay Plays, Volume Two
Gay Plays, Volume Two, edited by Michael Wilcox
Selected once again by playwright Michael Wilcox, this second anthology of Gay Plays consists of two British and two American plays. In Roger Gellert's Quaint Honour, homosexual relationships between schoolboys are depicted with viid realism. C.P. Taylor's Lies About Vietnam concerns two gay men trying to influence world history and sort out basic matters in their own relationship at the same time. A mysterious assassin is at large in Martin Sherman's Cracks, a play which is really about... (a shot rings out)... ahhh! Missed! Whilst Bearclaw by Timothy Mason details the relationship between a gay native American and his dying patient. Each playwright introduces his own play, except that Lies About Vietnam carries a preface by Michael Wilcox, who also provides an introduction to the whole volume.
